The GETEX-ISTE Global Forum highlights the role of technology and innovation in education

GETEX-ISTE Global Forum to catalyze and shape the use of didactic technology event to host international educators and decision makers.


Leading educators, academics and policy makers are making their way to the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) to contribute to the Global Forum on Innovation and Technology in Education being held from April 1st-3rd 2008.

The Global Forum on Innovation and Technology in Education is being collaboratively hosted by GETEX, the region's leading student recruitment, technology and careers brand, in collaboration with the US headquartered International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).

Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors' and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, is slated to deliver the welcome speech at the official conference opening, while ISTE CEO Dr. Don Knezeck will be deliver the Chairman's message on the global use of technology and innovation in education.

The Global Forum on Technology and Innovation in Education will provide a world-class professional learning opportunity for teachers, faculty members, educational leaders, technology leaders and policy makers in GCC schools, colleges and universities.

Held in conjunction with the GETEX - Educational Equipment and Technology Exhibition in Dubai, the conference program will include leading policy makers, institutional leaders and innovative classroom practitioners from across the region and around the world to share their vision, expertise and enthusiasm for improving education through the use of information, communication and learning technologies.

The event is split into two discrete strands - one discussing the role of technology in elementary and secondary education, and the other concerning itself with technologically mediated higher education A panel discussion on distance and online learning communities moderated by Dr. Betsy Lowry from the John Hopkins University USA will kick start proceedings in the Higher Education strand of the conference, while the Elementary and Secondary strand will get off the blocks with a discussion on the UAE Ministry of Education's role in empowering educators with technology.

The Global Forum will combine two and a half days of intense learning and productive professional networking for delegates and educators across the GCC and beyond, and will explore the increasing role of technology in the educational sector.
