St.Louis - ST. LOUIS – Corn research will be popping in Kansas City, Mo., when the National Corn Growers Association’s Corn Utilization and Technology Conference (CUTC) kicks off on Monday, June 2, welcoming hundreds of participants from around the world to learn the latest ways technology maximizes the use of this versatile grain. The theme for this year is “Corn: New Horizons.”“We’re excited about the opportunity to learn and to network in Kansas City,” said Richard Glass, NCGA Vice President of Research and Business Development. “It’s a great venue for a terrific event, and we hope this conference will provide participants with the knowledge and relationships crucial to success and progress.”
On Monday evening, keynote speaker Thomas Dorr, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Under Secretary for Rural Development, will update participants on the latest news from Washington. Dorr serves as chairman of the USDA Energy Council, which is responsible for advancing President Bush's energy initiative. He also serves as federal co-chair of the Biomass Research and Development Board.
Held every two years, CUTC will emphasize the importance of identifying the next generation of technologies to sustain corn as nature’s feedstock of the future. For 2008, it has been expanded to include new topics that will be of value to many audiences, such as ethanol producers and livestock interests.
The conference will feature a distinguished list of speakers covering topics including the evolution of the dry grind platform, value-added chemicals, wet-milling technologies, DDGS opportunities, fractionation, biotechnology, technology transfer and commercialization. Attendees will have the chance to meet with hundreds of valuable business contacts, identify potential new customers, and learn how new technologies will enhance the value of corn. CUTC will also offer a poster session and dozens of exhibitor booths presenting new technologies.
CUTC runs Monday through Wednesday at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. Visit www.corntechconf.org for more information.
