Facebook executive graduating to VC firm
Matt Cohler, one of Facebook's earliest hires, is leaving the Palo Alto social-networking startup for a job at a Silicon Valley venture capital firm.Facebook made the announcement Thursday. Cohler, vice president of product management at Facebook, will join Benchmark Capital as a general partner in the fall. But he'll stay in touch with Facebook as a special adviser to Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and the senior management team.
The 31-year-old executive already has a packed resume: He was a founding member of LinkedIn, the Mountain View social network recently valued at $1 billion; served as a consultant for McKinsey; and worked in Beijing at AsiaInfo Holdings Inc., a telecom company that helped build China's Internet infrastructure.
Said Zuckerberg in a statement: Cohler "has been an important contributor to Facebook's growth and success."
