ITunes atop the world of music retailing

Earlier this year, iTues leapfrogged into the No. 1 position as the nation's top music retailer, surpassing even Wal-Mart, according to NPD. The iTunes Store offers more than 8 million songs for sale online.

Apple, the Cupertino maker of the iPod and iPhone, also said it is renting or selling 50,000 movies per day.
